Ala Spit County Park

Ala Spit is a water access on the north End of Whidbey Island. A great place to go fish, or dig for clams.
It’s a water access for canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. The Current can be tricky here. The same tides that go roaring through Deception pass, flow through the channel between the spit and Hope Island. They have a little more room here, so it’s not quite as dramatic.
Please, if you’re boating. Be careful! The tides fluctuate significantly, and the current between Ala Spit and Hope Island can be strong.
The spit was formerly known as Ben Ure Spit. It has a colorful history involving pirates, and smuggling.
