Hoypus Point Hike

The Deception Pass area and State Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Washington.

You can still get some great peace and quiet on hikes in the park, like this one. It's an easy hike, all along the water. You'll see wildlife, be in touch with the water, and the view is absolutely beautiful -- and distant if the sky is clear.

Washington Hikes

There's always a good hike near by either on Whidbey Island or near by.

There's an excellent on-line resource from the Washington Trails Association.

Cash and Carry

When you're looking for the right stuff, often you need to make a trip off the island.

Cash and carry is one of those places. It carries food and equipment in restaurant size quantities and wholesale prices. Meat, milk, cheese coffee syrups ice cream, beans, are all available there. If you're stocking up for a party its worth a stop.

The local Cash and Carry is in Burlington.

Ala Spit County Park

Ala Spit

Ala Spit is a water access on the north End of Whidbey Island. A great place to go fish, or dig for clams.
It’s a water access for canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. The Current can be tricky here. The same tides that go roaring through Deception pass, flow through the channel between the spit and Hope Island. They have a little more room here, so it’s not quite as dramatic.
Please, if you’re boating. Be careful! The tides fluctuate significantly, and the current between Ala Spit and Hope Island can be strong.
The spit was formerly known as Ben Ure Spit. It has a colorful history involving pirates, and smuggling.
